New York: my first time in the US

I had the good fortune to travel much in 2023, including my first visit to the US. I spent a week in New York City's "Big Apple" in March 2023. The weather was cold, but neither snow nor rain interfered with my stay because I was fortunate enough to arrive a few days after the snowstorm that affected the entire eastern coast of the US.

Harlem and Uptown

At the same time as I wanted to locate a destination that was enjoyable, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on lodging. The 152nd street in Harlem, which is 20 minutes by tube from the city's centre, is where I found a place. I had heard a lot of misconceptions from friends about the notorious neighbourhood, and I was a little worried. After wandering through the streets for a few hours, I changed my mind. The people there aren't interested in you, they're too preoccupied with their phones, or they're worried about making it to wherever they are running in time.

One of the places that affected me the most was Rucker Park. As a basketball lover, that location is similar to my Mecca. You can feel the history of that location, and I felt like I was a part of all the accounts of the legendary games that were played there that I had read. There is usually someone playing there because everyone is waiting for a current or former NBA player to turn up and start playing with regular folks. The Yankees Stadium is another destination you should see if you're a baseball lover or if you just want to see in real life what you've seen in movies for years.

"New York steel"

The buildings in New York City are among the most impressive things I've ever seen, and they're even more impressive if you see them in person rather than in a movie. The sea of people moving through the streets and these steel columns rising out of the ground are in such stark contrast to one another that it simply exhausts you. Then, if you can manage to break away from the crowd and glance up, you will be able to observe the competition between the buildings to reach the sky.

The higher level of New York metropolis can only be reached by climbing one of these enormous structures. From there, any building below 50 floors looks like a Lego house, and the people are merely shadows running through the veins of the metropolis. The view from the top of the Empire State Building is breathtaking; it's the kind of thing you want to tell your grandchildren about since everything appears pointless and the few skyscrapers that rise even higher are bodyguards for the Empire State Building. The numerous bridges connecting the various neighbourhoods over the Hudson River make up the city's other steel component. The American flag is flying from each of the towers lookinjg over the bridges and is visible from  far.

Central Park

I've wanted to see Central Park my entire life. Since I was a young child, I've always thought of it as a location where people can escape the chaos of the city and the frantic pace of daily life: It's like an oasis tucked between the skyscrapers. The park's primary attractions are the squirrels. You'll be sorrounded in a few seconds if you carry with you anything they could eat and they won't hesitate to finish off your peanuts in a flash.
